Frequently Asked Questions:

Which sized unit is right for my home?

This question can’t be answered without us having seen your home. In order to perfectly size your unit, we have to do a series of calculations that will help us to determine the proper course of action. The output of air conditioners and heaters is measured in BTUs. A typical 2,000 square foot room may need a system that is capable of 40,000 BTU’s however there are other factors that impact the sizing decision such as windows and sun exposure, kitchens, and basements. The best course of action is to have one of our home comfort specialists visit you in your home to give you expert advice on which size you should have. Click here to schedule an appointment.

Will windows play an effect on which system and the size of the system I should buy?

Definitely. The number of windows, type of windows, how many floors your house is, insulation installed in the house, etc., play a major part in the unit and size of the unit selection.

Will my air conditioner take up a lot of space?

Your outdoor condenser unit will take up approximately the same amount of space that your previous unit. If you don’t have a condenser unit outside, a newly installed one will measure approximately 3 square feet. Inside your home, your American Standard unit can fit snugly in your basement or attic without taking up a lot of space. New units are smaller than older AC systems.
